the mint colored jeans with the relaxed fit mint colored knit is so casual but it’s kicked up to a chic look with the bow-detailed pumps. adorable!

i am simply in LOVE with this look. the deep green and navy pair beautiful, and the belt gives a beautiful hourglass silhouette at the natural waist. this is my fave look of the week!

printed party pants are all the rage this season, but these ones keep it classic with the nautical colours. paired with a simple silk look blouse, it’s such a ladylike, classic look.

what a sweet way to work your neutrals. the shoulder pouf on the blazer and statement necklace give this look just the right amount of edge when paired with the a-line skirt and classic patent pumps.

fashion friday: spring accessories

which of us isn’t crazy about accessories? picking up a fun new lipstick, beach hat or pair of sunnies can be quite little thrill… and don’t even get me started on shoes (guilty: 100 pairs and counting! eep. to quote a famous heroine “i will literally be the old lady who lived in her shoes”). annnyways, lets get excited for spring! a lot of these items are totally budget friendly, by the way. love that!

p.s: just freshened up my wardrobe for the upcoming season and purchased those dior sunnies. adore. them.

p.p.s: have you entered the giveaway for the GORGEOUS gold vintage print yet? it ends on monday, so you only have a few more days!

talk about winter white done right! (say that 3 times fast!) this super elegant and polished modern katharine hepburn spin with touches of bold gold is fabulous.

i love the layering techniques she’s used. the tunic is longer than the tux style blazer, and gives the outfit a flow when contrasted with the skinny jeans. the ladylike bag is one i’d like to get my hands on, too!

sterling style

flats, cuffed jeans and stripes – some of my very fave things. this is a girl who does casual prep like no other and realizes that you don’t have to complicate an outfit to look stylin’.

hrh collection

loving this sheer, relaxed blouse with the silver chain jewelry. a pop of leopard on the feet is something i can’t get enough of!

fashion friday: the investment bag

the investment bag

when i turned thirty last year (eep!), i splurged on what i term as ‘the investment bag’. it was a gift to myself i felt was deserved for the milestone. the louis vuitton tote style bag (aka the ‘neverfull’) was one that i had eyed for years. like so many gals in their late teens/early 20′s with limited funds but a hunger for style, i was guilty of buying a replica vuitton. having the means to treat myself to the real deal was exactly that: a treat and a symbolic ‘i made it’ moment.

my definition of an investment bag: classic, never trendy, fits in with your day-to-day wardrobe (cost per wear!), will only get better with age, somewhat practical (i stuff mine full for plane and moped rides), luxurious, and lastly: always makes an outfit special. it’s an investment into your personal style.

these picks are the investment bags that i have been coveting for years. the chanel bag is at the top of my list – finding one at a consignment store would be a dream!

fashion friday: doing the polka

fashion friday
trench coat: asos // blouse: old navy // skinny jeans: banana republic // bag: zara // shoes: charles david (similar and on SALE!) // bracelet: asos // watch: invicta // nail polish: essie ‘fifth avenue’

there are so many stylish fashion bloggers out there. it’s really fun to browse through their outfit posts and finding something you wouldn’t have thought of doing yourself. while {the sparkle} certainly isn’t strictly a ‘fashion’ blog (as you can tell by the amount of non-outfit posts!), i definitely love fashion.

i used to keep on top of current trends by watching what celebs were wearing (remember magazines?!), but i only rely on my favourite blogs now. it’s interesting seeing ‘real girls’ style their outfits; not to mention the fact that it takes a much greater sense of style to pair a higher prices designer piece with a blouse from, in my case, old navy! a few of my guilty pleasure pure fashion blogs that garner much inspiration are:

atlantic pacific
cheetah is the new black

eat, sleep, wear
sterling style
brooklyn blonde

vancouver faves:
her waise choice

to vogue or bust
a fashion love affair

have a fun, sparkle filled weekend!
